I’m a journalist, writer, editor, blogger, copywriter and general jack of all writing trades. My work has featured in lots of consumer magazines, and a handful of business titles, as well as countless websites.
I’ve written three novels: The Unexpected Vacation of George Thring ,Killing Dylan, and 46% Better than Dave, which are both published by Raven Crest Books.

Just purchased your book via amazon.
I was first attracted to it by it’s cover,it’s something i do often,then after reading the description i asked my Wife to it buy for her spare kindle for me to read later.
The description reminded me of another book Callisto by Torsten Krol,another book i chose by it’s cover.My Wife read your book before me and agreed with me.

Hi Alastair, I am currently reading all about George Thring and his adventures. I’m halfway through it and I must say I am enjoying it immensely. One of the best books I have read for a long time and I am an avid reader. I hope you will write a second novel in the near future.I love your so easy to read style of writing. Great to hear that you’re close to publishing your own book. What sort of book is it? And what it is called? Do you already have a deal lined up with a publisher? It all sounds very exciting, and I wish you all the best with it. There’s nothing quite like seeing you own work in print – and no feeling quite as nice as people taking the time out to send you nice comments and tell you how much they enjoyed reading it. My two novels were both published by Ravens Crest Books – a fairly small independent publisher, but very professional and I have a great relationship with them.

Many thanks for your reply – not started George yet! I have been in touch with Dave at Ravenscroft and he has a sample of the book to review. I have also contacted a few agents and got a positive rejection! He liked my writing and ideas but felt he couldn’t place it because it’s a ‘political thriller’ and people are bored with them – not sure I agree but it was nice to nearly get there! The book’s called Double Take and here’s the blurb:
Freelance photographer Nick Sharpe knows it was pure luck when he captures a photo of would-be Conservative party leader Alan McDonald arguing with a woman in a hotel car park. But before he can capitalise on it, he learns that the woman, a newspaper reporter, has been brutally murdered.
He shares the photo with the police and McDonald is interviewed, but soon another man is convicted of the crime and Nick can do nothing with the mysterious picture.
Two years later, Nick is taking photographs on the night of the general election; his subject is Alan McDonald who is about to become Prime Minister. When reviewing his work the next day, Nick notices a familiar face in the crowd …the murdered reporter.
I would love you to read it if it sounded interesting! It needs a final edit (or 2) but it’s almost there!

Alastair – have literally just this moment finished George Thring and bought Dylan. Enjoyed George (and his friends and enemies) enormously – you have done the rare thing of creating a believable comic world, just as Wodehouse did. In fact PG’s characters would see George as a kindred spirit, and PG would recognise you as a fellow spirit. Congratulations. I look forward to starting Dylan.
